Committee Goals 2026
Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association (LFCNA)
Membership Committee:
- Increase membership by 10% of our 2025 membership.
- Maintain Member Retention rate at or above 90%
- Provide quarterly orientation sessions for members
- Explore more options for joining Networking Groups in other regions.
- Collaborate with Outreach Committee to create a plan for follow-up on Pulse Survey data and contacts received from other sources.
Communication Committee:
- Achieve an LFCNA Connections Newsletter Click rate (those who actually open the newsletter) of 60% or greater for active members.
- Conduct an analysis of those who consistently don’t open. Try a shorter issue and assess if that makes a difference.
- Maintain at least 4 member contributions to each issue of the newsletter.
- Review every website page for currency, appearance, and relevance at least annually.
- Develop and conduct a poll of members regarding website and Facebook
- Review our brochures and update as needed
- Recruit at least one new member for this committee.
Governance Committee:
- Develop and/or review policies, guidelines and forms as needed for consistency with the bylaws and other policies
- Develop a ballot for the 2026 election, for Board Members and Officers serving in 2027/2028.
- Draft revisions to the Bylaws as needed
- Review the privacy policies for our website (Termly)
Outreach Committee:
- Devise and implement an action plan to respond to the Pulse Survey results.
- Seek an in person introductory meeting with the new Presiding Bishop of the ELCA.Support the LFCNA presence at the WELCA Triennial July 16-19, 2026 in Des Moines, IA.; the Rostered Ministers Gathering in Indianapolis, IN on July 6-9, 2026; and at least 15 synod assemblies or other events.
- Pursue an opportunity to provide an FCN presentation at 2 Lutheran Seminaries
- Send communication to Lutheran Schools of Nursing, encouraging information about Faith Community Nursing be included in the program’s community health curriculum and where available, offer clinical experiences with Faith Community Nurses.
- Complete the Committee’s involvement in the Grant from the Southeastern Synod and evaluate
- Seek an FC Nursing article in Living Lutheran (perhaps related to clergy shortage or FCN in small congregations)
- Explore involvement of LFCNA and/or faith community nurses in CaSTLE grants, complementing the role of the Synodically Authorized Minister (SAM).
- Seek continued dialogue and possibilities for partnering with Portico.
- Submit an abstract to the American Association for the History of Nursing Conference (October 2026) to present the history of Faith Community Nursing.
- Evaluate, in collaboration with Education Committee, the feasibility of partnerships that enhance Faith Community Nursing awareness.
Education Committee:
- Offer six (6) paid education events in 2026
- Seek Contact Hours for paid educational events.
- Continue to offer Replenishing Your Heart events
- Provide information on CINAHL Access or other searchable sources to access to evidence-based information for members
- Investigate placing educational resources for FCNs on our website and develop a plan for maintaining.
- Support planning for the all-region networking event and annual membership meeting.
- Evaluate, in collaboration with Outreach Committee, the feasibility of partnerships that enhance Faith Community Nursing awareness.
Finance Committee:
- Develop partnerships and relationships to create enhanced financial stability of LFCNA.
- Publish an article for each issue of the newsletter, underscoring the need for ongoing support of the mission of the organization and awareness of the funding needs and opportunities to sustain the work of LFCNA.
- Pursue education regarding non-profit compliance for the committee and board
- Validate LFCNA’s compliance with MN non-profit requirements and statutes
- Streamline monthly financial reports for assurance of financial balance and viability of LFCNA
- Increase accountability of committee members knowledge through educational opportunities.
- Develop, propose, and monitor adherence to the annual budget.
Grants Committee:
- Award 3 grants of up to $750 to congregations, consistent with Grant Guidelines
- Complete review of grants for the SE Synod Mission Grant
- Provide opportunities for 4 previous grant recipients to give a 15-minute presentation regarding how their grant funds were used, to regional networking meetings and/or to the Grants Committee
- Conduct an evaluation of the pre and post requisites for grant applicants
- Explore 2 new platforms for marketing the LFCNA grants
Personnel Committee:
- Update the employee handbook as needed.
- Develop other employment policies, if needed.
- Conduct the Performance Review for the Executive Director and revise the process, if needed.
