The Power of Compassion: How to Find Joy in Challenging Times

Presented by Felicia Wallace, MSN, FNP-BC, APHN-BC, RN-BC

Course Description: In this workshop we will learn about the power of compassion (for self and others), selfcare, sharing stories, and having a rich spiritual foundation can help each of us to experience joy during challenging times. This program will be helpful for nurses, FCN, ministers, lay ministers, and other members of the faith-based community. 

Date:   May 20, 2025
Time:   3-5 pm AKT, 4-6 pm PT, 5-7 pm MT, 6-8 pm, CT, 7-9 pm ET; via ZOOM
Registration fee: $30 for LFCNA members/ $50 for non-members
Nursing contact hours provided upon successful completion of the event: 2.0

OBJECTIVES: 
1.     Review the concept of compassion and Identify 2 ways it can impact individuals and communities.
2.     Discuss the power of “sharing stories” and the healing potential of our tears.
3.     Review and Identify 3 practices for dealing with grief, pain, and loss.
4.     Discuss the ways in which spirituality can impact our personal and professional lives.
5.     Review and practice 3 evidence based selfcare strategies to help improve mental health.  

Felicia Wallace is the lead Nurse Practitioner for the hospital based Holistic pain management team. She has a Master’s Degree in Community Health Nursing from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Felicia is board certified “Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse” as well as board certified in Pain Management. Felicia has completed training in compassion-based mindfulness, heart math, trauma informed care, centering prayer, and addiction/Substance Use Disorder.

This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation To receive contact hours for this event, attendees must attend the entire event and submit a completed evaluation form.
